Character kills and story requests
When a character dies for good, and how a major turn of a story - exile, prison, seizure, a death - is asked for and agreed. For every player whose story reaches its end, or a turning point.
Character kill (CK)
A character kill is a character's death for good. The character is not deleted: their name, story and past are kept, and the crier of the town they were last in announces the death. It is not written in the Chronicle. The character can no longer be played as they were: they show as Deceased in the character list and on the account site, locked until their player gives them a new name, and their slot is free for a new character. In the game, a parchment tells the player what happened; once they click I understand, they go back to the character list. The name they died under is reserved for good on their server: no new character and no name change can take it.
Everything they own is kept
What they carry and wear, their purse and their moneylender account, their horses and carts, their houses, businesses and rooms, and their citizenship all stay theirs. While they are dead, no upkeep is taken back from them; when they return, what fell due meanwhile is due a day later.
Their positions are lost
They leave their faction (a leader's place passes on as when a leader leaves), their seats on the town court and any lordship. The bounties, fines and wanted notices on them are lifted.
Who decides
The staff (Admin and above) may decide a character kill - to end a story as agreed by its parties in a Story request (below), or when the rules require it. A player may also end their own character, once it has at least 5 hours of play: Settings > End a character (CK) on the account site, or /myck in the game, typing the character's full name.
Story requests
Story requests replace the old CK requests. One character asks for a major event in the story of the realm, based on what happened in character: on the account site, Tickets > New ticket > Story request, written as that character - what happened, the event or turn of the story they ask for, and the outcomes they put on the table: exile, prison, seizure of goods, full death (a character kill) or PK only. On the request's page they invite the other parties by their characters' names.
Faction Management first
Faction Management reads every Story request first. It then informs the parties - each invited character's player - and the leaders of their factions (a sealed letter in the game and a line on the account site). The staff may invite parties too.
Everyone sits together
Every party reads the request whole and talks it over in its thread on the account site, with Faction Management and the faction leaders. Nothing is decided behind a party's back.
The terms, signed
Faction Management sets the terms: the outcomes agreed and how. Each party signs them - a box ticked: any of these outcomes can happen to my character, depending on how the story unfolds in game. When every party has signed, the story is agreed; new terms ask for every signature again.
