The law
Crime and the guards
The townsfolk have eyes. Rob them, strike them or kill them where they can see you, and the town turns on you.
- Seen
Take an item the town laid out - off a table, a shelf, a weapon rack - or empty a chest that is not yours, with one of the townsfolk or a guard close by: they cry thief. Strike one of them and they cry for help; kill one and the whole street cries murder.
- The guards come
Every guard within about seventy metres draws and comes for you. In a town with no guard close by, the watch sends two watchmen running from the nearest corner.
- The Watch hears
The players of the Bailiff's Watch are told who was seen and where. A killing is posted on the notice board under the killer's name.
- The hunt ends
after ten minutes without a new crime, when you fall, or once you outrun every guard by ninety metres. The guards go back to their posts.
