Houses
Houses are real doors in the world, not a menu. A house for sale has a sign over its door with its price.
| Finding one | Houses stand for sale in every town - cottages in the villages from about 1200 groschen, townhouses and burghers' houses in Kuttenberg up to 4400. Turn on "Houses for sale" on the live map to see them all. |
| Visiting | A house for sale stands unlocked: walk in and look around before you buy. Its chests stay shut until it is sold. |
| Buying | Stand at the door and open F2: pay in coin from your purse, or from your account at the moneylender. Up to two houses per character. |
| Every door | A house locks all the doors of its building - the front door, the back door, the rooms. A door that was missed can be linked: stand at it (within 15 m of the front door) and F2 > Link this door, or /linkdoor; /unlinkdoor takes one off. |
| The lock | F2 at the door locks and unlocks it. While locked, only you and your key holders may enter. |
| The chests | Every chest inside the house is yours: you, your key holders and (for a faction's house) its members open them. Anyone else is refused, whether the door is locked or not. |
| The spare key | Lend it to someone beside you, and take it back when the trust runs out. |
| For your faction | Open a house to your faction: every member then holds a key. Take it back whenever you like. |
| Selling | The town buys it back for 60% of its price (you are asked to confirm). Empty the strongbox first. |
| Burglary | A locked door can be picked by a thief (a slow, uncertain job - better with Lockcraft). A thief who gets in has ninety seconds; owners and the Watch may hear of it. The chests stay shut: only their owner (and the spare key) opens them. |
