The law
The Watch and the law
Crime is allowed. So is the Bailiff's Watch, which keeps the king's peace with rope, fine and pillory.
| The Watch may | |
|---|---|
| Bind | Bind a suspect's wrists (/restrain) and untie them (/release). The watch binds at once; anyone else may tie someone who accepts (a bounty hunter's catch that gives itself up, a scene played out) - and a rope you agreed to, you may slip yourself with /release. |
| Fine | Fine someone up to 500 groschen on the spot; they pay or refuse. Fines go to the Watch's coffers. |
| The pillory | Put a convict in the stocks at a pillory for up to 30 minutes, for the whole realm to hear of. |
| Bounties | Post a wanted notice with a bounty: it shows on every screen. F2 > The realm > Wanted notices (or the bailiff at a pillory) shows the board. Anyone who brings the wanted one bound to a bailiff takes the bounty, paid from the coffers of the faction that posted it; anyone may report a sighting, which marks it for the watch. A bounty is 200 groschen at most (400 on one head), put up by the watch's sergeants and up, and paid on a notice 30 minutes old or more - never to the one who posted it, nor to a member of the wanted one's faction or party. A head is paid for once a day, and a hunter is paid three bounties a day at most; the notices whose price was not paid stay up. The one handed over goes straight into the stocks: 10 minutes for each crime on the board, half an hour at most - no /stuck gets them out, and the court may still try them. |
| Impound | Impound a horse left where it should not be. |
| Records | Look up anyone's convictions at the bailiff's, or /record First_Last. |
