Upkeep
What you own costs its keep. Every house, shop, tavern, horse and town pays a fifth of its price each week.
- The first week
comes with the purchase. From then on the upkeep is a fifth of the price, every seven days.
- Where to pay
At the town clerk of the town the house, shop or tavern stands in (the nearest town hall, for a town without one); a horse at any stable master or town clerk. Talk to them > Upkeep.
/upkeeplists what you owe and where. - Paying ahead
Up to two weeks may be paid ahead: pay a week at a time. The coin comes from your purse, else your account at the moneylender; a faction's property and towns are paid by its leaders from the coffers.
- Late
A late week is still owed: a payment starts where the last one ended, so you pay the missed week, then the current one. You are told at the purchase, at login, every hour when a payment falls due within two days, and every quarter of an hour once it is late - F2 and the account site show it too.
- Unpaid
A week past due, the town takes it back: the house and the shop are for sale again (what was inside stays with the town), the town is free. A letter tells you. A horse or a cart is never taken: while its upkeep is owed it stays at the stable and cannot be brought out, whistled for or driven off - pay what is owed and it is yours to use again.
